Disclosed is a low-specific gravity steel for forging, which exhibits high strength and excellent machinability when molded by hot-forging immediately followed by controlled cooling, and has a lower specific gravity than usual steel materials for forging, comprising 0.05-0.50% of C, 0.01-1.50% of Si, 3.0-7.0% of Mn, 0.001-0.050% of P, 0.020-0.200% of S, 3.0-6.0% of Al, 0.01-1.00% of Cr, 0.0040-0.0200% of N, and the balance of Fe and unavoidable impurities. |
