CLIENT BASED CROSS LAYER IP PAGING METHOD

PURPOSE: A client based cross layer IP paging method is provided to minimize signaling load of a system and reduce power consumption of a mobile terminal in a WLAN(Wireless Local Area Network) environment which supports a proxy mobile IP. CONSTITUTION: An MN(Mobile Node) transfers an RS(Router Solicitation) message which sets up a dormant flag to an MAG(Mobile Access Gateway)(S101), and the MAG calculates a paging area of the MN(S102). The MAG transfers a PBU(Proxy Binding Update) message to an LMA(Link Mobility Anchor)(S103), and the LMA changes the state information of the MN into a dormant state(S104). The LMA transfers a PBA(Proxy Binding Acknowledgement) message to the MAG(S105), and the MAG transfers an RA(Router Advertisement) message to the MN(S106). The MN changes the current state thereof into a dormant state(S107).
