PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a facile method easily usable for the synthesis of tri- or tetra-substituted pyrimidine in a large scale preparation, and to provide a method using a minimum steps and easily available starting materials and a simple reaction medium. SOLUTION: There is provided the facile method for the synthesis of tri- or tetra-substituted pyrimidine. The method is useful for preparing inhibitors of protein kinases, (especially Aurora kinase). These inhibitors are useful for treating or lessening the severity of Aurora-mediated diseases or conditions.
