PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a heat-retention method of molten steel by which the dissipated heat amount due to the deterioration of a heat-retention material can be suppressed so as to attain further stable continuous casting operation. SOLUTION: In the heat-retention method of molten steel, in the continuous casting by transporting molten steel after completion of second refining to a continuous casting machine by a ladle, slag and a heat-retention material are successively arranged on the bath face of the molten steel in the ladle. With the thickness of the slag set at 10-70 mm, time after the completion of the second refining until the start of the continuous casting is set at 40-150 min, therefore, increase in dissipated heat amount incidental to deterioration of the heat-retention material is suppressed, further stabilizing the continuous casting operation.
