The present invention relates to an air conditioner comprising: an indoor unit having an air inlet for sucking in indoor air and an air outlet for discharging conditioned air; and an insect repeller attached to the indoor unit to repel harmful insects, wherein said insect repeller includes an insect type detection unit for detecting the type of insect, an insect repeller control unit for outputting a pulse signal for generating a specific frequency for repelling the relevant insect in accordance with the type of insect detected by the insect type detection unit, an amplifying unit for amplifying the level of the pulse signal, and a plurality of output units for converting the level-amplified pulse signal into an acoustic sound signal and outputting the converted signal, thereby repelling harmful insects in an efficient manner.
