<p>The method involves arranging a hall sensor (2) that produces a signal depending on presence or absence of magnetic markings (9, 10) in a detection range of the sensor. A material measure (4) rotating around a cam shaft is partitioned into two portions (7, 8) that are adjacent to each other. The portions differ from each other by the magnetic markings such that the sensor produces different sequences of signals depending on an axial position of the cam shaft during rotation of the cam shaft. The sequences of the signals are assigned to the portions and the axial position of the cam shaft. An independent claim is also included for a device for detecting an axial position of an axially movable cam shaft.</p> |
