The present invention relates to a gas-filling system having a residual-gas compression device and to a residual gas compression method arranged in such a way that, after a vehicle has been filled with CNG held in a tube trailer, the residual gas remaining at low pressure in the tube trailer can be hydraulically compressed to allow additional filling, thereby making fullest use of the residual gas remaining in the tube trailer and ensuring that only the minimum amount of gas stays in the tube trailer, and making it possible to maximise the CNG filling efficiency and reduce transportation costs.
