METHOD FOR PRODUCING CELLULOSE GEL DISPERSION

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a new cellulose gel dispersion which scarcely swells owing to low water absorbing property.

SOLUTION: The cellulose gel dispersion is obtained by: oxidizing a cellulose-based raw material by using an oxidizing agent in the presence of (1) an N-oxyl compound, and (2) a bromide, an iodide or a mixture of them; preparing a cellulose nanofiber dispersion by fibrillating and dispersing the obtained raw material; forming a gel-like substance by acidifying the obtained dispersion so as to coagulate the cellulose nanofiber; and finally pulverizing the gel-like substance.
