摘要 <P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an exhaust gas purifying catalyst having preferable desulfurization of an outermost layer especially most subjected to sulfur poisoning which has been a conventional drawback of a catalyst having a multi-layer structure such as a two-layer structure, and having stable NO<SB>x</SB>purification performance under a changeable lean/rich atmosphere, and to provide a method for manufacturing the same. <P>SOLUTION: The exhaust gas purifying catalyst includes a first catalyst layer containing rhodium, and a second catalyst layer containing platinum on a substrate, in this order from the substrate. At least the second catalyst layer includes at least one of first metal oxides containing a first metal element selected from the group consisting of alkali metals and alkali earth metals, and at least one of second metal oxides containing a second metal element selected from the group of rare earth metals, which are supported on a support. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2011,JPO&INPIT
