摘要 <p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a charger for an electric vehicle that quickly detects a line-to-ground fault in the charger for the electric vehicle and a leakage in the electric vehicle during quick charge to the electric vehicle. <P>SOLUTION: The charger achieves data communication with the electric vehicle 200 in charge, so that an earth wire 110 for communication, which connects the negative electrode of the control system power source 208 of the charger for electric vehicles to the earth 203 of a car body, is grounded to an earth 400 by a grounding wire 109. The grounding fault detector 102 of the charger 100 for electric vehicles has a series circuit 1021 composed of resistors 1021A and 1021B with equal resistance values which are connected to lines 103A and 103B for charge on the sides of a positive electrode and a negative electrode, a grounding wire 1023 which connects an intermediate portion between the resistors 1021A and 1021B to an earth 400, a current detector 1022 which outputs the measured values of a DC current flowing in the grounding wire 1023 successively, and a controller 1024 which detects a line-to-ground fault in the charger 100 for electric vehicles and a leakage in the electric vehicle by comparison between an actually measured current value output by the current detector 1022 and a threshold. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2011,JPO&INPIT</p>
