<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce the amount of light reflected on a ball part end surface of a ball lens and reaching a core part of an optical fiber. <P>SOLUTION: A ball lens 213 includes: a spacer straight portion 410 which is connected to a single-mode optical fiber 301 and transmits a light beam emitted from the single-mode optical fiber 301 with a maximum spread angle 2θmax; and a ball portion 400 which is connected to the spacer straight portion 410 and emits the light beam transmitted through the spacer straight portion 410 so that the light beam may be condensed on a prescribed focus position. When the length and outer diameter of the spacer straight portion 410 are denoted as L and D respectively, a relation of 2×L×tanθmax<D<2×k×L×tanθ(wherein K=1.1 and 0.06≤θmax≤0.14) is satisfied. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2011,JPO&INPIT</p> |
