PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for manufacturing a liquid crystal display device with which spacer particles are efficiently, accurately and selectively placed in a region corresponding to a light shielding region of a substrate of the liquid crystal display device by using an inkjet device, which is accompanied with neither occurrence of a depolarization phenomenon caused by the spacer particles nor lowering of contrast or a color tone due to light leakage and with which the liquid crystal display device providing excellent display quality is obtained. SOLUTION: In the liquid crystal display device composed of pixel regions arrayed in accordance with a fixed pattern and light shielding regions to partition the pixel regions, there is provided the method for manufacturing the liquid crystal display device in which a substrate with the spacer particles placed at a specified position in the region corresponding to the light shielding region by discharging a spacer particle dispersion liquid in which the spacer particles are dispersed by using the inkjet device and a substrate with no spacer particle placed thereon are opposed through the spacer particles placed at the specified position in the region corresponding to the light shielding region and liquid crystal, and which is characterized by setting a receding contact angle (θr) of the spacer particle dispersion liquid with respect to the substrate on which the spacer particle dispersion liquid is discharged to 5 degrees or more.
