Disclosed are: a gene carrier for the tumor cell-specific expression of a target gene; a method for imaging tumor cells or a tumor structure using the gene carrier; and a pharmaceutical composition for the treatment of cancer. Specifically disclosed is a cationic polymer which serves as a gene carrier and is characterized by containing a cationic peptide portion, which serves as a substrate of an enzyme that is specifically expressed in tumor cells, and a hydrophilic polymer portion.
