PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an internal combustion engine separating alcohol from gasoline-alcohol mixed fuel by a simple device configuration. SOLUTION: This internal combustion engine 1 includes: a main fuel tank 4 storing the gasoline-alcohol mixed fuel; a membrane module 12 separating alcohol from the mixed fuel through an alcohol separation membrane 11; a decompression conduit 15 reducing pressure of the secondary side of the membrane module 12 in comparison with the primary side thereof; a condenser 14 liquefying alcoholic vapor taken out of the membrane module 12; and an auxiliary fuel tank 22 storing alcohol taken out of the condenser 14. A recirculation conduit 25 is provided for recirculating the gasoline-alcohol mixed fuel in the separation module 12 to the main fuel tank 4. A second heat exchanger 10 is provided for controlling the separation module 12 at 60-120°C. The decompression conduit 15 is provided for connecting the separation module 12 and an intake pipe 17.
