<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To promptly read a code symbol attached to a commodity by the use of a code scanner. <P>SOLUTION: A code scanner 102 includes a read unit 106 for a code symbol 107a, a controller 119 for processing the read result and a transmitter 121 for a decoded result, each housed in a flat housing 102a. On the housing 102a mountable between a neck portion to a waist portion in the front of a human body, with a shape and size which do not impede flexible movement of both arms in a mounted state, the housing 102a has a readout window 114 formed on one of flat surfaces. The housing also has an attached mount unit 112 for mounting on the front of the upper half body of a user 105. When being mounted, a light source 113 and an area-imaging sensor 116, configuring the read unit 106, face the front of the user 105. When the user 105 recognizes by looking at the code symbol 107a provided on the surface of a commodity 107 at the front of the human body, while mounting the code scanner 102 on the user's body, the read unit 106 reads the code symbol 107a. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2011,JPO&INPIT</p> |
