PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a hard coat composition excellent in antifouling performance and hard coat properties. SOLUTION: The hard coating composition includes a metal oxide having a particle diameter of 1-400 nm (a component (A)), and a polymer emulsion particles having a particle diameter of 10-800 nm (a component (B)). The component (B) consists of: polymer emulsion particles obtained by polymerizing a polymer stock solution containing a hydrolyzable silicon compound (a component (b1)); a vinyl monomer containing at least one functional group selected from a group consisting of hydroxyl, carboxyl, amide, amino, and ether (a component (b2)); an emulsifier (a component (b3)); and water (a component (b4)); wherein the mass ratio of (A) and (B)(A/B) is 50/100 to 350/100.
