<p>A medical guide wire having enhanced operability and safety and prevented from erroneously entering a branched blood vessel. A medical guide wire (1) comprising a rectilinear base end region (2) and a front end region (3) which is continuous with the front end side of the base end region (2) and has a tip section (36) facing the direction of the base end. The front end region (3) has a curved section (32) which is continuous with the base end region (2), and also has a front end section (34) which is continuous with the front end side of the curved section (32). The base end region (2) and at lest a part of the base end side of the curved section (32) which is continuous with the base end region (2) are located on the same curvature plane (A). The front end section (34) extends in the direction away from the curvature plane (A). The tip section (36) is provided in a region located in the direction in which the curved section (32) is curved relative to an orthogonal plane (B) which is orthogonal to the curvature plane (A) and is located on the axis of the base end region (2).</p>
