PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To accurately identify outbreak of events which is notified from a plurality of vehicle mounted devices. SOLUTION: A traffic information providing system 1 includes a traffic information service center 10, and a plurality of vehicle mounted devices 20. An event observed during cruising on a road is notified from each of the vehicle mounted devices 20. Only the information which can be determined to have predetermined reliability is reflected to a traffic information present condition database 12 as traffic information, after notification is stored into an undecided information database 17. In this case, in an event determining means 19, determination whether a plurality of pieces of notification indicate the same event or indicate the other events is made, based on not only by positional information at the time of observing the event, but also on road information at the time of observing the event. The content of the traffic information present condition database 12 is distributed to the plurality of vehicle mounted devices 20 by traffic information distributing means 14, and used.
