PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a minefield warning system and a method for warning of minefield to give warning to a user intruding into the minefield, reducing power consumption by a terminal and elongating a service life of a battery. SOLUTION: This minefield warning system includes the terminal and a base station, and detects intrusion of the user carrying the terminal, into the minefield, so that the terminal gives warning to the user. The base station includes a detecting section transmitting an inquiry signal to the terminal, detecting increase of a new terminal by a response signal received from the terminal, and outputting a detection signal, a control section transmitting positional information of a detection area including the minefield when the detection signal is input, a position detecting section measuring a position of the terminal when the terminal receives the inquiry signal, an information analyzing section comparing the terminal position and the positional information received from the base station, and determining whether the terminal position is included in the detected area or not, and a warning section giving the warning when the terminal position is included in the detected area.
