PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an ink-jet recorder which eliminates ink discharge failure factors and can perform nozzle cleaning that prevents the wasteful use of an ink. SOLUTION: The ink-jet recorder performs printing at the timing of nozzle cleaning. The ink-jet recorder calculates a remaining discharge amount of the ink of each ink discharge port necessary for nozzle cleaning, and performs printing suitable for discharging the remaining discharge amount of the ink as the nozzle cleaning.
