PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a half tablet cutting apparatus and a half tablet cutting method, considerably reducing entire tablet cassetters in number by making the tablet cassetters versatile. SOLUTION: The tablet cassetter 10 is equipped with: a bypass valve 8 which is arranged immediately below a tablet holding passage 24 on the most upstream side between a partition plate 6 and a tablet discharging passage 4, and is operated so as to be in an open state when discharging the tablet conveyed in a state held in the tablet holding passage 24 through the rotation of a tablet holding rotor 2 from the tablet discharging passage 4, and in a closed state when not discharging the ; and a cutter 7 which is arranged across the tablet holding passage 24 on the downstream side of the position of arrangement of the bypass valve 8 between the partition plate 6 and the tablet discharging passage 4, and cuts into halves the tablets conveyed in a state so as to be held by the tablet holding passage 24 through the rotation of the tablet holding rotor 2 when the bypass valve 8 is in a closed state.
