PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of recovering heat energy of slag by which heat energy can be highly efficiently recovered from the slag solidified in a high temperature state. SOLUTION: In the recovery of heat energy of the slag by charging the slag such as steel making slag 1 solidified in the high temperature state into a heat exchanger 10 and raising the temperature of a gas 4 circulating in the heat exchanger 10 by the slag, the heat exchanger 10 for heat-exchanging between the gas 4 and the slag while being transported in the horizontal direction is used as the heat exchanger for heat-exchanging between the gas 4 and the slag, and heat energy of the slag is recovered.
