METHOD, DEVICE AND SYSTEM FOR IMPROVING THE PERFORMANCE OF TYPE B PROTECTION SWITCHING

A method, device and system for improving the performance of Type B protection switching are provided. The method includes: when no failure occurs in an Optical Line Terminal (OLT), the information relevant to a primary Passive Optical Network (PON) port is backed up onto a backup PON port, and all the Optical Network Units (ONUs) are notified that the OLT is in a Type B protection state (S301); when the OLT detects a failure, the primary PON port is switched to the backup PON port, and a deregistration request is transmitted to all the ONUs belonging to the OLT (S302); after the re-registration requests transmitted by the ONUs are received by the OLT, the discovery gate for an entire cycle is given to all the ONUs in the first authorization cycle, and discovery gates for non-entire cycles are given to unregistered ONUs in subsequent authorization cycles, until the re-registration of all ONUs is accomplished (S303). The device includes: an information backup unit, a deregistration request transmission unit and a discovery gate allocation unit. The method of the present invention solves the problem in the prior art that client high-reliability requirements can not be satisfied because of lengthy switching times.
