An electronic album display system (1) automatically gives an album name (14) to image data (13) and simultaneously displays the image data and the album name (14). A CPU (18) references an original imaging date/time tag (T1) held in a header area (29a) and acquires a character string from conversion candidate items (31c) when an image data storage section (28) stores a new Exif file (29). The CPU (18) records the acquired character string in a user comment tag (T6) as an album name (14). The album name (14) is displayed on an image display screen (3) along with the image data (13). With this, the user can automatically give an album name (14) to image data (13) without marring the compatibility with other devices and simultaneously view the image data (13) and the album name (14).
