The coloring or bleaching agent comprises 0.05-10, preferably 0.5-2 wt.% of valine and 0.01-10, preferably 0.25-1.5 wt.% of protein hydrolyzate. The protein hydrolyzate has molar mass of 75-200,000, preferably 500-20,000 Dalton. Cationic protein hydrolyzates and 0.05-15 wt.% of 2-furanone derivative of formula (I,II) are provided. 0.001-5 wt.% of bisabolol or oxide of bisabolol, preferably (-)-alpha-bisabolol is also provided. The compounds having the formula (I,II), are new. R 1>-R 1>0 : H, -OH, methyl-, methoxy-, aminomethyl, hydroxymethyl, 2-4C saturated or unsaturated, branched or linear hydrocarbon residue, 2-4C mono-, di- or trihydroxy hydrocarbon residue, 2-4C mono-, di- or triamino hydrocarbon residue, -OR 1>1 group, where R 1>1 is 2-4C hydrocarbon residue, 2-4C mono-, di- or trihydroxy hydrocarbon residue, -NR 1>2 R 1>3 group, where R 1>2 and R 1>3 are H, methyl, 2-4C hydrocarbon residue, 2-4C mono, di or trihydroxy hydrocarbon residue, -COOR 1>4 group, where R 1>4 is H, methyl, 2-4C hydrocarbon residue, 2-4C mono, di or trihydroxy hydrocarbon residue, 2-4C mono-, di- or triamino hydrocarbon residue, -CONR 1>5 R 1>6 group, where R 1>5 and R 1>6 are H, methyl, 2- hydrocarbon residue, 2-4C mono, di or trihydroxy hydrocarbon residue, 2-4C mono-, di- or triamino hydrocarbon residue, -COR 1>6 group, where R 1>6 is methyl, 2-4C hydrocarbon residue, 2-4C mono-, di- or trihydroxy hydrocarbon residue, 2-4C mono-, di- or triamino hydrocarbon residue, -OCOR 1>7 group, where R 1>7 is methyl, 2-30C hydrocarbon residue, 2-30C mono-, di-, trichloroethylene or polyhydroxy hydrocarbon residue, 2-30C mono-, di-, trichloroethylene or polyamino hydrocarbon residue. Provided that: (A) R 7>and R 8>are both OH; (B) R 9>and R 1>0 are H at the same time; and (C) R 9>and R 1>0 are not dihydroxy ethyl residue. An independent claim is also included for a method for coloring or bleaching of keratin fibers, which involves applying a pretreatment agent on the fiber and using a tinge or a coloring agent on the fiber.
