<p>An apparatus for printing a web of material by means of ink jet heads comprises removing means for catching and removing floating ink droplets by electrostatic means. Added for this purpose to each group of heads is a plate which is charged with an electrical voltage relative thereto and which during operation electrically attracts the floating ink droplets. Present between the conveyor belt for transporting a substrate for printing along the inkjet heads and the relevant head or heads is a transport member, for instance an endless conveyor belt, which transport member, in a collecting position, collects ink droplets attracted by the plate, is subsequently guided to a cleaning station for removal of collected ink from the transport member, and then guided back again to its collecting position.</p> |
