The application discloses spelt germ oil in a substantially isolated form. Oil isolated from the germ of spelt (triticum spelta) is useful as an ingredient in cosmetic products, for example, creams, lotions, shampoos, bath and shower gels. The oil includes components providing potential as skin nutrients, and has a low content of gluten. Cosmetic products including the oil preferably include one or more additional natural oils. The isolated spelt germ oil is also useful in food products, especially when used in combination with one or more further edible natural oils. |
