The head (1) has two different turbines (2a, 2b) arranged in parallel and comprising cylinders (3). Exhaust pipes (5) of the cylinders are brought together to form an exhaust pipe unit (7) such that an integrated exhaust manifold (6) is formed within the head. The turbines are provided downstream of the exhaust manifold. The turbines comprise a common turbine housing (8) with an inlet region (9) for supplying exhaust gas. A housing part (8b) of the turbine housing receives the large turbine from the two turbines and forms a liquid cooling system with a coolant jacket (17). An independent claim is also included for a method for operating an internal combustion engine.
