PURPOSE: A device and a method for testing a vertical multistage pump are provided to operate a vertical multistage pump dipped in an oil tank and to gradually control a flow rate of fluid. CONSTITUTION: A device for testing a vertical multistage pump comprises an oil tank, a flow path(20), an opening and closing valve(30), a flow rate control valve(40), a manometer(50), a drain tank, a circulation pump, and a computer(80). A vertical multistage pump(5) is dipped in the oil tank. The flow path is connected to an outlet(5a) of the multistage pump. The opening and closing valve blocks the flow of fluid. The flow rate control valve controls a flow rate. The manometer measures the pressure of the fluid flow. The drain pump stores the fluid through the flow rate control valve.
