The panel (1) has a liner (4) fixed on a rigid support layer (3), and including a free face defining a visible face (6) of the panel, where the support layer is made of thermoplastic material. The support layer and the liner pass light from a lighting device (7) such that patterns are formed on the visible face, where the lighting device is provided with a light source i.e. LED (22). The liner has a protective layer that protects the liner from industrial fabrication conditions such as high temperature conditions. The protective layer is constituted of non-woven or knitted mesh material. An independent claim is also included for a method for fabricating an interior trim panel.
