<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To appropriately display handwritten data in accordance with screen settings that may be changed. <P>SOLUTION: Of characters 401 and a curve 402 which constitute handwritten data, the curve 402 is associated with characters of "12:00" and "14:00" from the start position to the end position of its input. Screen settings shown in Figure B are changed to screen settings shown in Figure C, and if the spacing between the characters of "12:00" and "14:00" is increased, the way in which the data are displayed is changed so that the curve 402 also increases in length. Since the characters 401 and the curve 402 are managed as different groups, the way in which the characters 401 are displayed is not changed even when the way in which the curve 402 is displayed is changed.
