PURPOSE: A composition for preventing or treating hypertrophic scar or keloid is provided to suppress proliferation and induce apoptosis of fibroblasts without side effects. CONSTITUTION: A composition for preventing or treating hypertrophic scar or keloid contains a compound of formula I (S-(MS)p-(MS)q) as an active ingredient. The compound of formula I is sialyl lactose. The sialyl lactose is alpha-NeuNAc-(2→3)-beta-D-Gal-(1→4)-D-Glc or alpha-NeuNAc-(2→6)-beta-D-Gal-(1→4)-D-Glc. The sialyl lactose suppresses proliferation and induces apoptosis of fibroblast. |
