<p>The present invention refers to a system for degrading hydrocarbons, grease and oils floating over a surface, for instance water, with the advantage that does not require an additional power source except the movement provided by the swell at the liquid surface. The invention includes four main sections: the outer upper section has a plurality of apertures about the same that enables the hydrocarbons to enter. Said apertures or windows include a second section wherein an oleofilic material is located, either textile or of other type, which is intended to absorb hydrocarbon and allows the same to enter, thus maintaining the organisms that degrade the hydrocarbons confined. The third element refers to a culture of bacteria which degrade the hydrocarbons and transform the same into none-polluting material. The last section is located at the bottom of the aforementioned sections but isolated therefrom and is useful for locating the suitable amount of counterweight for allowing the system to float in the correct position. The movement of the system caused by the swell provides enough agitation to the bacteria for removing the digestive coat formed at the inner portion of the oleofilic textile. The digestion of the hydrocarbons increases the amount of bacteria and residues in the inner portion of the system, which causes the same to sink, when reaching a predetermined limit; the system is extracted from the liquid so as to be cleaned and maintained.</p> |
