PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a functional material capable of accelerating chemical reaction on the surface and easily modifying the surface. SOLUTION: The method of producing the carbon particle is carried out by using mesophase pitch as a material, heating the material to give fluidity, suspending it in an inert gas, heat-treating it at 350-1000°C and next, cooling it to produce the carbon particle. Particularly, the heat-treatment is preferably carried out while passing the inert gas from the lower side to the upper side in the furnace. COPYRIGHT: (C)2011,JPO&INPIT
