PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To manufacture a carbon nanotube aggregate having a high tensile strength. SOLUTION: A method for manufacturing an aggregate of carbon nanotubes 410 comprises (1) a step of forming carbon nanotubes 410 in a reaction vessel 100, (2) a step of aggregate the carbon nanotubes in the reaction vessel 410 to produce an aggregate thereof 500, (3) a step of moving the aggregate 500 to a heating apparatus 200 outside the reaction vessel 100, (4) a step of heating the aggregate 500 at a temperature of 400 to 500°C in the heating apparatus 200, and (5) a step of applying a tensile load to the heated aggregate 500 to orient the carbon nanotubes 410 in the aggregate 500.
