PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a cutting device capable of performing an entire cutting operation in a short time and accurately performing cutting when cutting long workpieces sequentially. SOLUTION: In this cutting device 1 for sequentially cutting long workpieces 8 conveyed in the longitudinal direction in the direction orthogonal to the conveying direction, a cutting blade 3 for cutting the workpieces 8 is provided to the outer peripheral surface of a cutting roll 2, the cutting roll 2 is rotated and driven by a rotating and driving source 6, and the cutting tool is rotated and driven at a second speed until the cutting blade 3 of the cutting roll 2 is moved from a cutting start position to a cutting completion position where the cutting blade 3 completes cutting and is separated from the workpiece 8. In at least a part of a period during which the cutting roll is returned from the cutting completion position to the cutting start position to ready for the next cutting, a control device 10 controls the rotating speed of the cutting roll 2 by the rotating and driving source 6 so that the cutting roll 2 is rotated at a first speed higher than the second speed.
