PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To recover from a failure in two stages, in rewriting a microcode to be updated. SOLUTION: In a computer equipment comprising a computer device with a specific hardware board mounted thereon, a microcode rewriting method recovers the system from a failure in two stages when the failure occurs in rewriting a microcode that is firmware for a main CPU 1 mounted on the hardware board 10 or program data for a programmable ASIC, by preparing area 1 and area 2 planes in a nonvolatile memory 5 and managing a microcode currently driving the main CPU 1 and a microcode to be written to the main CPU 1 separately by means of a plane management flag.
