PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a heat insulating box wherein a damaged brick at the bottom of a carbonization chamber of a coke oven can be readily replaced, and a process for repairing the damaged brick at the bottom of the oven using the same. SOLUTION: A heat insulating box for hot repair of a flat framework structure 1, which is used by inserting into a carbonization chamber of a coke oven, includes a plurality of leg members 5, which can be pulled up to be housed between two horizontal frame members 1b constituting the lowermost part of the flat framework structure 1 in the direction of insertion and form pairs between the horizontal members 1b. The heat insulating box is inserted into the carbonization chamber of the coke oven, and the pair of leg members 5 located at the site to be repaired at the bottom of the carbonization chamber, among the leg members 5 incorporated into the two horizontal framework members 1b constituting the lowermost part of the flat framework structure in the direction of insertion, are pulled up to be housed, thus repairing the site to be repaired.
