<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of coding a plurality of images having different viewpoints. <P>SOLUTION: The coding method includes: access unit definition steps (S502-S508) for defining an access unit, and a coding step (S526) for coding each image constituting the access unit for each access unit. The access unit definition step includes a coding unit decision step (S502) for deciding a field unit or frame unit to be used for coding each image; and field type decision steps (S504-S508) for deciding a top field or bottom field to be used for image coding when it is decided that each image is coded in field units.
