PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To highly precisely specify a matching position. SOLUTION: An image processing apparatus for specifying a matching position with a second image in a first image includes: a pixel group generation section for generating a plurality of random pixel groups being pixel groups in which an arbitrary pixel is randomly extracted from pixels included in the second image; a matching processing section for calculating for every random pixel group a calculation result including a position where a similarity level between each random pixel group and the first image is highest and the similarity level at the position, while shifting the relative position with the first image among each random pixel group generated by the pixel group generation section;; and a matching position specifying section for specifying a matching position with the second image in the first image on the basis of the calculation result for every random pixel group calculated by the matching processing section.
