PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical delay device using quantum dots which can be constituted of nanoscale dots and can suppress optical loss as much as possible during light accumulation. SOLUTION: An optical signal corresponding to data to be stored is supplied to a quantum dot 12 for input to inject a first exciton excited according to the wavelength of the optical signal to a quantum dot 14 for delay. The first exciton injected from the quantum dot 12 for input to the quantum dot 14 for delay is transmitted between resonance levels and stored. An optical signal for relaxation prevention which includes a wavelength different from that of the optical signal is supplied and a second exciton is further excited to a lower level to delay relaxation through the lower level of the first exciton transmitted between the resonance levels.
