PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To suppress imaging in a defocused state, which results from a shake in the direction of an optical axis, by detecting the focused state of an imaging optical system. SOLUTION: The imaging apparatus includes: an imaging optical system 102 for imaging a subject image on an imaging means 207; focus detecting means 203 and 204 for detecting a focused state of the imaging optical system; calculating means 106 and 107 for calculating a shake in the direction of an optical axis, which results from acceleration acting on the imaging optical system. If the amount of shake in the direction of the optical axis, calculated by the calculating means, is within a focused range when a focused state is detected by the focus detecting means, photographing is attainable.
