PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a flame detection system capable of accurately detecting flame by flexibly corresponding to change in flame characteristics (brightness and shape of flame) due to mixing of palmstearin when burning the palm stearin by an oil boiler. SOLUTION: The flame detection system includes a mixing-ratio measuring device measuring a fuel mixing ratio, a camera shooting an image of the flame of the burner, a storage device storing the patterns of fuel mixing ratios and brightness control values, a brightness calculating means for calculating brightness from the image shot by the camera, and a flame-determining means for determining the existence of flame or a misfire by selecting a brightness control value corresponding to the fuel mixing ratio measured by the mixing ratio measuring device from the patterns of fuel mixing ratios and brightness control values and comparing the selected brightness control value with the brightness.
