PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a high-security electric vacuum cleaner whose filter can easily be replaced by detaching its exhaust cover even when the filter is clogged. SOLUTION: The electric vacuum cleaner includes: a fan motor for sucking dust; a dust collection chamber for collecting dust which communicates with a suction tool for sucking dust; a body 1 which is provided with an exhaust port for releasing exhaust air from the fan motor to the outside; a filter 5 for collecting the dust component in the exhaust air which is in contact with the exhaust port; and the exhaust cover 6 having a spring 7 which biases the filter toward the exhaust port and can move the filter so that it may be separated from the exhaust port when it is subjected to an exhaust pressure equal to or larger than a predetermined value.
