The invention relates to an instrument for simulating multifocal ophthalmic corrections, comprising two optical channels with different optical power values in the beams originating from the object observed, in which at least one of the channels includes a Badal system. The instrument simultaneously provides images of objects brought into focus from a distance and close up. The system provides the same optical magnifications for each channel, regardless of the optical power thereof, and produces stacked retinal images with different degrees of focus which, unlike with other devices, are all of the same size. The instrument can be used to simulate different optical powers for short vision and different refractive corrections for long vision.
