CONTACT TIP FOR AN ELECTRODE OF A RESISTANCE WELDER

A contact tip (20) used with the electrode of a resistance welder. The contact tip (20) includes a bore (38) that has an insert (60) of blended tungsten and copper inserted therein. Prior to insertion of the insert (60) into the bore (38), the bore is lined with a composition containing silver. A brazing process can be utilized to enhance attachment of the insert (60) to the contact tip (20).
