Disclosed are a component data simplification device and a component data simplification method. A positional relationship calculation unit (12) receives component data (6) from a data acquisition unit and sets one or more inspection vectors in a first component model. The positional relationship calculation unit (12) carries out calculations to determine whether or not intersection points exist between the set inspection vectors and a second component model. When it is calculated that intersection points exist on all of the inspection vectors, a unit (13) for determining components to be removed judges the first component model to be a removal target. A component removal unit (14) removes the first component model which was judged to be a removal target by the unit (13) for determining components to be removed from the component data (6).
