PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electromagnetic wave shielding material which can easily form a ground electrode on a predetermined circumferential region by removing an unnecessary transparent coating layer on a conductor layer and is excellent in continuous productivity, and a method of manufacturing the material. SOLUTION: The electromagnetic wave shielding material 10 is manufactured by a method including: first, A. a preparation step of preparing a conductor layer laminate in which a conductor layer 2 having a pattern region 2A containing an image display region and a peripheral grounding region 2B and a transparent coating layer 3 are laminated in the order named on a transparent base material layer 1; B. a removal condition setting step of setting removal conditions by tentatively removing the transparent coating layer in the grounding region, preferably except an area serving as the ground electrode thereby forming a removal condition setting exposed area 5; and then C. a transparent coating layer removing step of removing the transparent coating layer on the area serving as the ground electrode in the grounding region under the removal conditions thereby forming a grounding exposed area 4.
