PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a surface combustion burner wherein the possibility of backfire is reduced even when mixed gas of vaporized kerosene and air is burned. SOLUTION: The surface combustion burner for burning the mixture of vaporized kerosene and air on the combustion surface has a funnel-like flow passage 7 having a cross-sectional area enlarged toward the combustion surface to introduce the mixed gas to the combustion surface. Thus, since the mixed gas is made to pass through inside of the burner of which temperature is raised by receiving heat from the combustion surface for a short time, this eliminates the situation where the vaporized kerosene reaches spontaneous ignition temperature.
