PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To accurately perform determination processing of the kind of an ink cartridge performed in a mounting process of the ink cartridge in an ink supply device. SOLUTION: In the mounting process of the ink cartridge 30, when an optical sensor 123 detects a first projecting part 75, it outputs a detecting signal, and when an optical sensor 126 detects a second projecting part 76, it outputs a detecting signal. A controlling part 90 determines the kind of the ink cartridge 30 based on a before and after relation in the lapse of time of the detecting signals output from both the optical sensor 123 and the optical sensor 126. For example, when the first projecting part 75 is detected first, it is determined to be the ink cartridge 30A, and when the second projecting part 76 is detected first, it is determined to be the ink cartridge 30B.
